Mozilla is on the loose

Finally! AOL has cut Mozilla loose. Mozilla is not dead. Netscape is.

This way Mozilla can be made by and for the Internet users. Mozilla is no longer bound to weird decisions made by AOL.

I'm really looking forward to this. It's gonna be a hard way, but it's the right decision. Having two versions of the same browser, Netscape and Mozilla, always confused people. Now we, the Mozilla community, can focus on getting people to know and use the greatest browser available.

The newly created Mozilla Foundation will serve as the home for the Mozilla community.

Enough talk, let's code! Long live Mozilla!

'Mozilla is loose' is a haphazard accounting of the horror that has befallen them.

In addition to Netscape, 'Mozilla is fucked' is more in line with the reality that is.

Mozilla is NOT fucked. Mozilla will now be more in line with Linux and the it works in terms of development, etc. Totally open source, with decisions made by the open source people and nobody else.

Don't forget to ask users' opinion.

Filing 2000+ Bugs doesn't help with the end-user support...

Mozilla could very well be fucked... I don't know.

It's gonna be a bitch to move ahead without netscape's money

I think Moz is mostly loosed.

Esteeming intercourse as I do, I'll just say that it's possible that we'll get polluted (i.e. there are some dangers, obviously), but we should be more charged than afraid.

As far as NS money goes, it has a potential to be replaced with money from Red Hat, IBM, Sun, etc. etc. etc., and little bits from me and thee.

I do want to put in a plug here -- let's keep as much/as long Seamonkey as is possible. I love the suite.

Great! The Menendez Brothers (Mozilla fanatics) killed their parents (Netscape Corp).

What will they do after the parent's coffers are empty and they run out of money? They don't know. But so far, the killers are happy. For a while.

And in the end, they'll regret it. But it will be too late.

Congratulations to the bunch of morons who yelled "Netscape sucks, Mozilla rules" with a naive slashdot attitude since the first release of Netscape 6.x based on Mozilla.org code hit the Net, without realizing that the success of Netscape meant the success of Mozilla (the project), and more important, the commercial success of open source.
