Firefox start problems

I've been having problem with starting Mozilla Firefox for quite some while now, and it's driving me crazy. It happens on two PCs so it's not something to do with a faulty installation etc.

When I launch Mozilla Firefox 0.8.0+ fx build ID 20040608 I never see the fox. I can only see Mozilla Firefox in the Tasklist but Mozilla Firefox never shows.

It's related to extensions, since if I delete the extensions directory in my profile Mozilla Firefox starts up fine.

I normally always download a new nightly build of Mozilla Firefox every morning using my 4getmoz script. This downloads the zip version of Mozilla Firefox and installs it.

Am I the only one having these problems?

I don't know why deleting your extensions would help - but I've had a problem on several occasions where windows apps fail to appear on screen. It may be that something opened a window that got moved off-screen the last time you had Firefox opened (you have turned off popups, haven't you?), so now it remembers that position.

Try right-clicking the taskbar icon and choosing move. Then tap one of the arrow keys a couple times and move the mouse. (I know those sound like screwy directions, but they should work.)

if you have a build from the past few days then you can start it up using -safe-mode i think

I noticed the same a few minutes ago, after trying out the new 0.9 release. Deleting the extensions folder in the profile finally brought up the FF window.

I think many people are now upgrading from Firefox 0.9 RC (having some 0.9-compatible extensions installed) to 0.9 Final as it is just out today. However, if you didn't remove your old 0.9 RC profile, you might run into the problem of starting up Fir...

I am having the same problemon Windows 2000 professional. I had Firefox 0.8 and I upgraded to the latest Firefox 0.9. Now although I double-click on the Firefox 0.9 icon, firefox never brings up its browser window. The firefox process is still there, but there is not browser window. Where is the extensions directory located??? I have already uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox from my PC a couple of times but the problem still occurs. Is the extensions directory stored under the user's name or under the main Morzilla Firefox directory path?

I had the same type of problem. I was not using a nightly build, just the general install file from the firefox page. I installed the Extension Uninstaller, and after that, i never could get firefox 0.8 back up. It would show up in my task list, but the app would never appear on my desktop.

luckily, this happened the day that the 0.9 rc was released, so I just downloaded it.
