Developer Control Panel

By Firefox 1.0, Mozilla Update will have a new section for Extension/Theme authors to login to. This new section will give them the ability to manage their extensions and themes that're hosted on Mozilla Update themselves. Authors will have the ability to add a new extension or theme themselves, as well as adding new versions of that extension or theme, updating an existing listing (including being able to change the application-compatibility settings w/o needing a new file), and if they so desire, the ability to remove entirely an old version of an extension or theme or the entire listing.

I'm really really looking forward to when the Developer Control Panel is launched. Trying to get my extensions updated on is currently a pain.

Yes. And, as part of that update, having screen shots of themes and all kinds of other niceties. I wish they'd gotten updated in time for 1.0. Anyone know when the update will occur?

Nevermind, it looks like update-beta has finally started operating (by the way, this looks like a tremendous improvement over the current update site). The developer panel there may be working, I haven't tried it:

Cool! That really looks good! One thing though: they should remove/change the outdated qute icons.

That new beta looks much better! And I hope that with developers finally being able to update their extensions themselves it will be more up-to-date and feature more stuff like screenshots e.d.

Tell me about it.
I volunteer on u.m.o and help submit/mod extensions.
It's no fun uploaded extensions all day and now that I'm swamped with Final University Exams, I get hate mail for being slow.
I'll be more happy than anyone when this is ready :D

Re comment 3:

I very much hope this will be fixed by the time update-beta.m.o becomes update.m.o. I filed a bug about the very issue you mention (bug 246840) on the day update.m.o went live, but it was recently WONTFIX'd because there were other priorities and Thunderbird's still Qute-based. Of course, this most certainly isn't a reason to WONTFIX the bug, but I don't feel like getting in a flame war over what is indeed a trivial issue. Once update-beta.m.o becomes update.m.o, I'll probably reopen the bug so it can be properly fixed.

Wolf has a lot on his hands, and I can understand his actions (even if I know they're clearly incorrect). Consequently, until I know someone else who can push the fix to the site, I'm not going to go complaining to him (before he'll listen, that is).

Tried u-b.m.o. Unfortunately, I cannot start a new account due to some MySQL error.
