Well Kroc,
one thing leads to another. And knocking a product is more efficient than promoting standards. But of course the users go both ways. Many just switch because of security reasons, others switch because of standard compliance and others take part in promoting standards their way. For example they inform webmasters and/or CEOs if a website isn't standard compliant.
But this will only take effect if those webmasters/CEOs could reach a significant higher number of users.
You see, one thing belongs to another.
Well, civilly bashing a product on valid points isn't exactly the height of unfairness -- not that it's something to be excercised to the exclusion of more constructive methods. Now, haphazard application of generalization and anthropomorphization to the extent that it produces sentences to the effect of "...points out Firefox as ill-informed people", is quite the fertile ground for ill-informed zealoutry to grow on. :)

How about promoting web standards rather than shamelessly knocking a product? - an action that points out Firefox and other alternatives as zelaous ill-informed people who won't listen to reason.
This is not the sort of thing the Mozilla foundation believes in.
