Playboy is official mirror site for Firefox and Thunderbird

I kind of thought this is a bit cool/funny:

Instead of visiting some dry, boring Web site to download your favorite open source software, why not put some spice in your life and get it from Playboy? mirrors.playboy.com is even an official mirror site for Firefox and Thunderbird, says Playboy Unix administrator Tim Yocum. He wanted to give something back to the community from which his company has drawn so deeply.

Now we have another excuse to read the 'Gentlemen magazine'. It's not only for the articles, it's also for the downloads :-)

In what sense is this mirror site official? It's certainly not on the mirrors list http://www.mozilla.org/mirrors.html . Thankfully.

Gerv, get a live. What would be so bad about an extra mirror server?

Actually, Gerv is right. I would hope that this wouldn't be a part of the official mirror list. I can see all kinds of bad things happening if it were. For example, somebody at work wants to download Firefox, so they visit mozilla.org and click the download link. They get redirected to mirrors.playboy.com and get a cybercop block notice because *.playboy.com is listed as a naughty site. A red flag goes up and IT and HR through a fit. Hopefully they'd be smart enough to realize that he was visiting mirrors.playboy.com and not www.playboy.com, but you never know with some companies out there. So now this potential user gets fired simply because he wanted to download Mozilla :(.

Yeah right, he gets fired for that. A little bit of realism couldn’t hurt...

I’d welcome Playboy as an official mirror! That would be amusing :). Maybe they can host the pornzilla project too.

if you are on a company network it would be highly recommended not to have any tracks to playboy.com. that is stone cold reality.
