Launchy, Linky, Slashy users please read
Due to a GUID change in recent versions of Launchy, Linky and Slashy extension you might end up with two versions of the extension installed. Please check your Extension Manager and uninstall the oldest version of the duplicate extension.
The result of the duplicate extension is that you're prompted that the extension has been update over and over again. Just uninstall the old version of the extension.

The GUID was changed due to a standard way I maintain my extensions. The change was needed.
Comment by Henrik Gemal at January 26, 2006 03:23 PM | PermalinkI hope you've ensured that Firefox 1.0 users don't receive this update since they need to uninstall the old version first due to the way chrome registration worked back then.
Comment by anonymous at January 26, 2006 03:48 PM | PermalinkMine Launchy is still at version 4.0.0, and it doesn't work in FF1.5. Yet it cannot find any updates. The problem seems to be that Launchy 4.0.1, 4.1.0 and 4.2.0 has never been posted at addons.mozilla.org. Why not?
Comment by Stig at January 26, 2006 06:29 PM | PermalinkBecause of the GUID change I cannot upload a new version to addson.mozilla.org!
Comment by Henrik Gemal at January 26, 2006 06:34 PM | PermalinkYou might want to check Robert Strong's method of removing the old version. He used it in the latest "Development" version of SpellBound.
I'm using the sane GUID thing (i.e. myextension@cusser.net) with new extensions, but I'm not going to change the existing ones until there's an official way of doing it through AMO. Presumably this is on a feature list somewhere since I read about it at least 5 months ago in Bugzilla.
Comment by Ben Basson at January 26, 2006 08:02 PM | PermalinkI had version 4.0.1 installed; i downloaded the 4.2.0 and install it manually and is all good:it's now updated, no trace of two launchys installed.
Nice extension, btw. Thanks!
Why the change in GUID?
