Reliby - Reload all Live Bookmarks extension

Reliby - Reload all live bookmarksMy latest extension Reliby was made because of a request from a colleague of mine. Mr KimBlim had the problem that when he starts Firefox while being offline and then connects, his live bookmarks didn't load because of being offline at start. So he needed an extension to force reload of all his live bookmarks and Reliby was born.

Reliby is short for Reload all Live Bookmarks. The y is added to conform with my other extensions like Linky, Launchy, Slashy and Closy

In Firefox, Live Bookmarks are automatically updated every 30 minutes. That's alright for most times, but sometimes it's nice to force reload them.

And Reliby does just that. It reloads all of your Live Bookmarks with a push of a button.

Reliby can be accessed by adding a button to your toolbar or by using Bookmarks > Reload Live Bookmarks

Note: Reliby does not work with Live Bookmarks in Places since the API is completely changed.

perhaps that should be a feature request, whenever one goes from ofline to online mode reload all live bookmarks.

Well, I believe Live Bookmark's content should be saved with session, a feature coming in 2.0.

thanks for this very useful extension
it's very useful when you change network connectivity
for example, when you hibernate a laptop and move it between networks as I often do
perhaps, it could also be mixed with the switchproxy extension which reload the current page when you change your proxy configuration.

Thanks for this extension.

I've got a feature request. It would be nice if live bookmarks could be loaded only when the button is pressed. I have a lot of livemarks, and when I open Fx I have to wait a bit before surfing, because they eat up my bandwidth while they all load.

Hi, nice extension, I was dreaming about this one for ages :-)

I don't see the icon next to the toolbar however ?

Stef: You have to add the button to the toolbar yourself. Rightclick on the toolbar and select Customize... and drag the Reload Live Bookmarks button to your toolbar.

Q: I'm not sure it can be done. I have to look into the source of Firefox and see if it can be done.

hmm, and i was hoping the new Places would pursue the wishlist wish of wanting control of livemark loading.

Re Q's comment, that's what I'm specifically googling for; my dial up connection is effectively destroyed when I start up, it takes ages to do anything. I could delete all my livemarks, but I don't want to.

Great extension though, something to think about when I'm onto broadband.

I could also really use what Q and MatGB are looking for, for much the same reasons. (And yup, google brought me here.)
Cheers,
