Mozilla Says IE 7 Won't Beat Firefox Security
One of the chief selling points (if a free browser can have a selling point) of Mozilla Corporation's Firefox browser has been its reputation of being more secure than Internet Explorer. Preaching to a choir of open-sourcers at the Red Hat Summit, the company said it expects to maintain that advantage. Firefox has won the hearts of between 10-20 percent of the web browser market, stealing away a large chunk of Microsoft's IE monopoly. According to Secunia, those converts are well deserved. The security firm reports that while IE 6 still has 21 unpatched vulnerabilities, Firefox only has three.

Mozilla Confident of Security Lead over Microsoft
Mozilla Corporation is confident that its Firefox browser will maintain its security lead over Microsoft's forthcoming Internet Explorer 7. "In the long run, [Firefox] will always be more secure [than Internet Explorer] because we have transparency and we have external contributors," Christopher Blizzard, a board member for the Mozilla Corporation, said during a session at the Red Hat Summit in Nashville.

You know, MT, if you are going to make a habit of flying around the web trying to make a case against FireFox, it may be a good idea for you to not include links in your post that prove what you say to be utter junk. After clicking on the link you provided I clearly see that you pulled those numbers out of your backside.
For goodness sake, the first link you provide says the vulnerabilities were taken care of in the upgrade to 1.0.8! How long ago did that release come out? Two years or so?
Come on! You can do better that this! Wait, you are in IE user. Maybe you aren't smart enough to do better than this.
At least that "Firefox Myths" page is good for a few laughs...

I recommend to use Firefox, it is the surest browser.
I never had problems with Firefox on the other hand with IE I usually had
problems with Spyware and Dialers.

I still don't think any browser is gonna beat Opera.
Firefox is pretty good but sometimes just is really getting bad.
Opera never gets bad.
IE is the worse.
I don't know about Safari and Konqueror.

It seems to me that IE7+ (IE7 on Vista) would have an advantage: the low-permission mode for IE is a great and general mitigation strategy for many of the worst vulnerabilities.
